Hey everyone and welcome to the official JUNGLE FITNESS Orange County Personal Trainer Blog!  Today is Freelance Friday, we’re going to discuss what makes us strive to do and get what we want.

“Endorphins are neurotransmitters produced in the brain that reduce pain,” says Alan Hirsch, MD, neurological director of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago. “They have also been known to induce euphoria.” Drugs such as morphine, heroine and cocaine are classic endorphin-releasing entities, according to Dr. Hirsch. But luckily for us, there are less-addictive ways of experiencing such sweet rhapsody.

Whether it’s a blast from the past or just a bad memory, or for some people tiresome, we all have some things we dislike.  However, if something makes you feel good about yourself, makes you smile, or makes you laugh, we all find that fun or more interesting than sitting, listening to your teacher lecture for 2 hours on a topic you find boring.  Now don’t take me the wrong way, that lecture might be super interesting to you.  However, for some people, you are just plain bored.   Hate and love are strong words, and are ironically opposites to itself.  Hate, allows you to understand what that person will do, or would do next, and you will constantly observe him/her, watching his/her every moment because you dislike him/her (for whatever reason).  However, love blocks that thought process, and your firewall becomes deactivated.  Things that may happen that aren’t really good, doesn’t appear as they would, if you hated someone.  These neurotransmitters that help you ease pain, feel good, or have more energy is all part of why we do certain things.

Let’s say the most popular guy or gal that you like comes up to you and gives you a general compliment.  Endorphins travel to your brain that sends you the feeling of goosebumps, which makes you continue to do whatever he/she said for the entire life in highschool, or even your life.  However, if you are those guys that can’t get their butts off the couch, to either go to the gym or get off your butts at all, it’s because you either find it tiresome or boring, maybe even both.  There’s nothing in it for you.

Tustin Personal Trainer, Jon Jung, #1 Personal Trainer Orange County, Jungle Fitness: What about me?

Statistics show that 30.6% of the United States population are obese as of June 2010.  There are 309,480,000 people in the United States as of June 2010, which equals to about 95 million (94,700,880) people are overweight.

* According to a recent survey (cited in a 2010 BBC News online article), only twelve percent of the general population possess a gym or fitness  club membership. Without a doubt, the vast majority of adult individuals to possess a membership fail to get the recommended sixty minutes of exercise per day. This is despite the fact that, in a recent survey conducted by Glaxosmithkline Nutritional Health-care, fifty-nine percent of respondents expressed the realization that exercise plays a greater role in personal health than calorie counting.  *

However, people who see the the results or rewards after working out or after finally finishing that long BORING project, you feel good inside.

Costa Mesa Personal Trainer, Jon Jung, #1 Personal Training in Costa Mesa, Orange County, Jungle Fitness: Feel Good

Why do we do things we hate?  There is no real reason why we “hate,” certain things, we may find it boring, disgusting, whatever personal reason it is, endorphins that are sent to your brain tell you, you do not like that certain thing.  Likewise for vise versa.  We go the extra mile because of the sensation we feel after.  Anything that you do for pleasure or creates a good feeling, you will do it again.  No matter how hard it is to get there, or how tough, you will do it again.  People who do things for other people are honest good people.  However majority of them do good deeds because it makes them feel good about themselves or just makes them feel good in general.  Very little people do selfless acts for absolutely nothing in return.
