(Fitbie.com–) Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo and most of us will celebrate by having a Mexican feast! That’s why here are a few healthy recipes that can cure your fiesta cravings without hurting your calories!
Turn Up the Spice

It’s easy to ramp up flavor by seasoning your dish with fresh chopped jalapeño or other peppers that pack heat. “Hot chiles are practically calorie-free,” says Jennifer Iserloh, author of The Skinny Chef. “And studies show that the capsaicin—the compound that makes them hot—helps your body burn more calories.”
Forego Fried Foods

Stuffing jalapenos with cheese and dropping them into the deep-fryer cancels out their health benefits. Three poppers pack 280 calories and 19 grams of fat. If you want to split an appetizer, you’re better off sharing a cheese quesadilla with three friends (100 calories, 3 g fat per serving).
Buy a Bottle

At about 100 calories a pop, your best drink option is a light beer, says Iserloh. Bottles make it easy to count how many liquid calories you’re consuming (although really you should keep it to one serving). To add a dash of flavor, ask the bartender to salt the rim of your glass and garnish it with a fresh slice of lime.
Get Off to a Rocky Start

Not in the mood for a cerveza? Go for a margarita, but make sure it’s on the rocks. The frozen kind is loaded with sugar and calories and people tend to slurp them down faster, says Gans.

But I Can’t Find My Hair Tie

So many women shove their workout gear in their purse or a grocery bag, but it only takes one time of reaching in to pull out your sweat towel and having your entire life fall out onto the gym floor to make you realize that your gear needs its own place. Invest in a decent bag—there are so many practical and stylish options—with plenty of pockets to keep your stuff (plus backups) handy.
But All My Gym Clothes are Dirty

What’s stretchy, comfortable, cute, and works great layered? Your pajamas, yes, but also most workout clothes. While we don’t advise sleeping in a full set of thermal running gear, hitting the hay in your sports bra, comfy tee, and yoga pants can be the difference between sleeping in and making it to that early morning class.
But My iPod Ran Out of Juice

Many workouts have been derailed for want of small, seemingly insignificant items that can make or break your workout: power cord for your music player, ear phones, bobby pins, socks, Band-aids, tampons, head bands, ibuprofen, and lots of hair ties. Find a small cosmetic bag and fill it with your emergency essentials so you’ll never be tempted to just go home. Because nobody wants to run without tunes.
But I Forgot My Shoes

Barefoot training may be all the rage right now, but trotting around the weight room shoeless won’t amuse your fellow gym goers. Avoid being a gym “don’t” by prepping the night before: Stuff athletic socks inside your sneakers and put them by the door. Another solution: Keep a stash of clean socks and a pair of kicks in the trunk of your car or under your desk.

Orange County Personal Training: Hydrating yourself while dieting
Shape.com— When your dieting or trying to shed some pounds, being hydrated is very important. Yes water is probably the best way to keep yourself hydrated, but there are other hydrating foods. Lets talk about the Top 4 hydrating foods:
Hydrating Food: Cucumber

The flesh of cucumbers is primarily composed of water but also contains vitamin C and caffeic acid, both of which help soothe skin irritations and reduce swelling—which is why cucumbers are often used to help swollen eyes and sunburn.
Hydrating Food: Mixed Greens Salad

Most lettuce greens contain 94 percent water, making it a low-energy density food. In other words, you’ll feel fuller on fewer calories and lose weight faster.
Hydrating Food: Tomato Sauce

It may vary depending on the brand, but most store-bought tomato sauces are about 90 percent water. Plus, one half-cup serving of tomato sauce has only 50 calories and zero grams of fat, while the same amount of creamy Alfredo sauce weighs in around 200 calories and 18 grams of fat.
Hydrating Food: Chicken Noodle Soup

This flu-fighting formula can seriously hydrate you when you need it. Each cup has about 840 milligrams of sodium to help you retain the broth and 14 grams of carbohydrates to help you absorb it.

Recipe: The Ultimate Power Breakfast

(Number of Powerfoods: ![]()
More power hitters than the Yankees’ batting lineup. And still you can knock this out of the park in less than 5 minutes!
1 egg
1 cup one percent mild
3/4 cup plain instant oatmeal
1/2 cup mixed berries
1 Tbs chopped pecans or sliced almonds
1 tsp vanilla whey protein powder
1 tsp ground flaxseed
1/2 banana, sliced
1 Tbs plain yogurt
Recipe: Green Eggs and Ham Omelet

(Number of Powerfoods: 4)
2 eggs
1 slice Canadian bacon, diced
1/3 cup torn baby spinach leaves
1 Tbs shredded reduced-fat smoked mozzarella cheese
Whisk the eggs in a bowl, then stir in the Canadian bacon and spinach. Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Pour in the eggs, cook over medium heat until set, and flip. Sprinkle with the cheese and fold the omelet in half.
Recipe: Halle Berries Smoothie

(Number of Powerfoods: 4)
3/4 cup instant oatmeal nuked in water or fat-free milk
3/4 cup fat-free milk
3/4 cup frozen blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries
2 tsp vanilla whey protein powder
3 ice cubes
Dump the cooked oatmeal, milk, berries, whey powder, and ice into a blender, and puree until drinkable. (For a sweeter smoothie, add honey to taste.)
Recipe: Romaines of the Day

(Number of Powerfoods: 5)
2 cups chopped romaine lettuce hearts
1 avocado, pitted, peeled, and chopped into bite-size pieces
1 medium tomato, chopped into bite-size pieces
1/2 cup canned black beans, rinsed and drained
2 Tbs diced scallion
1 Tbs chopped cilantro
1 Tbs extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 Tsp grated lime zest
2 Tsp lime juice
1/4 Tsp salt
1/2 Tsp pepper

Orange County Personal Training: Power-Up Routines
(FitnessMag.com–) More routines for toner, fitter, sexier body! Don’t stop here, diet is always crucial. But check these moves out, and it should power up your metabolism.
Burpee combo with side shuffle

• Stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Squat low, placing hands on floor shoulder-width apart and hop or step legs back into full push-up position.
• Do a push-up, then step or hop feet in toward your hands again.
• Jump up (reach high!), then land in a squat and immediately shuffle twice to left.
• Lower into a squat, touch both hands to floor, stand up, then repeat shuffle and touch to the right to complete 1 rep.
• Do 10 reps (that’s 10 burpees and 20 shuffles).
Jump kick
• Stand with feet slightly staggered, left in front of right, and hands in fists next to chin.
• Jump up and land on left leg as you kick forward with right.
• Bring right foot down to starting position then lean forward and extend left leg back behind you.
• Do 10 reps then switch sides and repeat.
Upper Body

Medicine ball chest pass
• Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding a weighted ball in both hands in front of chest, elbows bent.
• Throw ball forward onto floor. Pick it up and repeat. MAKE IT HARDER: If you’re an experienced exerciser and you have a sturdy, solid wall at the gym meant for such purposes, stand facing the wall and throw the ball at the wall; catch it, take time to reset your position and repeat.
• Do 10 reps.
Core
Medicine ball rotation throw
• Stand with feet about shoulder-width apart and hold a weighted ball in both hands at your left side, elbows bent.
• Pivot and push off of right foot as you throw ball across your body to the right.
• Go pick up ball and repeat. MAKE IT HARDER: More experienced exercisers can stand perpendicular to a wall (a few feet away with right side closest to it), feet shoulder-width apart, and hold ball with both hands by your left side; pivot and push off of right foot as you throw ball across your body to the left against the wall. Catch it, take time to reset your position and repeat.
• Do 8 to 10 reps. Switch directions and repeat.
Plyo push-up

• Get in full push-up position on floor, arms extended with body forming a straight line from head to heels. MAKE IT EASIER: Place hands on a low sturdy platform or a countertop (the higher the surface, the easier the push-up). Or, start in modified push-up position on your knees and progress to your toes as you get stronger.
• Bend elbows, lowering chest down, then push up as hard as you can, trying to catch some air.
• Land and immediately lower into a push-up again.
• Do 8 to 10 reps.
Band squat press
• Stand with feet shoulder-width apart on the center of a resistance tube and hold an end in each hand next to shoulders, palms facing forward. (The tube should be taut.)
• Lower into a squat, keeping hands next to shoulders, then rise up as fast as you can.
• Press arms overhead. MAKE IT EASIER: Keep hands by shoulders.
• Do 10 to 12 reps, repeating squats as fast as you can.
Side Plank

• From full plank, lift right hand off mat and turn torso so that your shoulders are stacked (right shoulder directly above left) and you are balancing on left hand. (Left hand should be aligned directly under left shoulder.)
• Raise right arm straight up toward ceiling, reaching high, and either stack feet (resting on the outside of left foot) or keep them staggered (resting on the inside of right foot and outside of left).
• Keep hips raised so body is straight from head to heels.
Hold for 3 to 10 breaths then switch sides and repeat.
Dolphin pose
• Kneel on floor with knees under hips, toes turned under so heels are up, and rest on forearms so shoulders are aligned over elbows, palms on floor.
• Lift knees and straighten legs (as much as you can) so you’re in an inverted V; let your head hang between arms. MAKE IT HARDER: Walk feet closer as you get more comfortable.
• Hold for 3 to 10 breaths.
