Orange County Personal Fitness: A Snack Doesn’t Always Have to Go with a Fattening Dip.

Each dipping sauce is full with hundreds of calories that can be avoided by substituting them with smart choices. Here are some of my favorites:

(Health.com)—

Skip: Sour cream–based veggie dip
Pick: Spinach hummus

OC Personal Training- Irvine

Save: 53 calories per 2 tablespoons

Skip: Mexican layer dip
Pick: Salsa

OC Personal Training- Newport Beach

Save: 50 calories per 2 tablespoons

Skip: Mayo
Pick: Horseradish mustard

OC Personal Training- Tustin

Save: 150 calories per 2 tablespoons

Skip: Heavy salad dressing (Thousand Island)

Pick: A homemade version: 2 1/2 teaspoons plain, low-fat Greek yogurt, 1 1/2 teaspoons water, 1 teaspoon ketchup, 1 teaspoon fat-free mayo, and a sprinkling of capers

OC Personal Training-Costa Mesa

Save: 132 calories per 2 tablespoons

These are still good substitutes. Taste good and still compliment well with any good snacks! Even better when you go naked those Carrots, celery, broccoli, pita bread,— you name it!
