Hey everyone, Happy Talk Show Tuesday & welcome to the official JUNGLE FITNESS OC, aka Orange County Personal Trainer Blog! Today we’re going to discuss on what’s unhealthy for your body.

Alcohol consumption may be healthy for you. However, the risks of death, through blurry vision or because of the after effects can be devastating.
Drinking alcohol every day cuts the risk of heart disease in men by more than a third, a major study suggests.
From a BBC News article, the Spanish research involving more than 15,500 men and 26,000 women found large quantities of alcohol could be even more beneficial for men.
Female drinkers did not benefit to the same extent, the study in Heart found.
Experts are critical, warning heavy drinking can increase the risk of other diseases, with alcohol responsible for 1.8 million deaths globally per year.
The study was conducted in Spain, a country with relatively high rates of alcohol consumption and low rates of coronary heart disease.
The research involved men and women aged between 29 and 69, who were asked to document their lifetime drinking habits and followed for 10 years.
Crucially the research team claim to have eliminated the “sick abstainers” risk by differentiating between those who had never drunk and those whom ill-health had forced to quit. This has been used in the past to explain fewer heart-related deaths among drinkers on the basis that those who are unhealthy to start with are less likely to drink.
Good cholesterol
The researchers, led by the Basque Public Health Department, placed the participants into six categories - from never having drunk to drinking more than 90g of alcohol each day. This would be the equivalent of consuming about eight bottles of wine a week, or 28 pints of lager.
For those drinking little - less than a shot of vodka a day for instance - the risk was reduced by 35%. And for those who drank anything from three shots to more than 11 shots each day, the risk worked out an average of 50% less.
The same benefits were not seen in women, who suffer fewer heart problems than men to start with. Researchers speculated this difference could be down to the fact that women process alcohol differently, and that female hormones protect against the disease in younger age groups.
The type of alcohol drunk did not seem to make a difference, but protection was greater for those drinking moderate to high amounts of varied drinks.
The exact mechanisms are as yet unclear, but it is known that alcohol helps to raise high-density lipoproteins, sometimes known as good cholesterol, which helps stop so-called bad cholesterol from building up in the arteries.

Sounds Too Good To Be True
This sounds all dandy doesn’t it? Let’s all go drink til we throw up! No, that’s not it. Although it may prevent heart disease, other side effects may occur. Especially taking large amounts of it at once without much experience can be life threatening. Also, drinking too much, may lead to you losing control of your senses, and may cause trouble for you or for other people. Ie: Lindsay Lohan’s incident
Why is Lindsay Lohan going to jail? Well, there’s a few reasons, most of which have to do with her past troubles. She got a second DUI in 2007, and as a result she was given 3 years of probation, ordered to complete an alcohol education program, serve one day in jail, and complete 10 days of community service. Well, she violated those terms and is now paying the price.
Lindsay’s probation was extended by a year in 2009 because she failed to go to substance abuse classes, and then, in May 2010, she failed to make her DUI progress report hearing because she was in France. So, a bench warrant was issued for her arrest, but it was rescinded after one of her reps posted bail. Then, on May 24, when Lohan did show in court, she was told she had to go to weekly alcohol education classes, wear a SCRAM bracelet, and undergo regular drug tests in order to stay out of jail.
At her next hearing on July 6, it was determined that LiLo hadn’t gone to all of her mandated classes and had indeed violated the terms of her probation in the past, so she was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by 90 days of rehab. She surrendered to authorities today, July 20. It is thought that she’ll spend only 23 days in the Lynwood Correctional Facility, due to overcrowding.

Everything happens for a reason. Just make sure that reason isn’t something you should have avoided or did. Thing before you act, even with the consumption of alcohol, it isn’t a miracle drug. People can die from it. Be careful what your choices are and the consequences behind it. Although alcohol is “supposedly” healthy for you, if you’re going to drive. Make sure you’re sober. The last thing you would want is to want whatever just happen to have never happened, which by that time you’re either in jail, going to jail, killed someone, or maybe you’ve even manage to kill yourself.
