Hey everyone,  Happy Talk Show Tuesday & welcome to the official JUNGLE FITNESS Orange County Personal Trainer Blog!  Today we’re going to look at the difference between the at home workout of P90x Workout and the Insanity Workout.

People who have really good self motivation and can devote themselves to workout at home and isn’t tempted to watch TV, distract yourself, or make excuses to workout (I’ll do it tomorrow), might consider buying P90x or Insanity.  Now how do you tell which one is for you or even if there’s one better than the other.  I will explain that to you guys.

P90x Workout

P90x is a 90 day workout transformation.  It focuses on parts of your muscle without the usage of weights to make them tone and very define.  P90x has 12 CD’s which each concentrates either on a certain muscle or topic.  However every time you get used to that exercise, it changes which the term “Muscle Confusion” comes into term.  Every 30 days the workouts change, so your muscles do not adjust to the style of workout that you were doing previously.   This allows your muscles to attack a new series of exercises that are new to your muscles but still targeting the range of your muscle in one area.


1.  Chest & Back - Targeted strength and definition workout emphasizes two classic upper-body exercises.

Insanity Workout

The Insanity Workout is a 60 day transformation.  Just like the P90x, the Insanity Workout doesn’t use weights either.  The Insanity Workout has 12 CDs that focus on a lot of body movement, cardio, abs, and conditioning workouts. This workout contains long bursts of intense exercises followed by small intervals of rest in between.  This forces your muscles to push itself to the fullest and get out of every rep as possible in every exercise, rest and repeat.

1: Dig Deeper & Fit Test

To start, Shaun will put your body to the test and see what you’re made of. (30 minutes)

2: Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Burn fat with intervals of intense lower-body plyo and sweat-inducing cardio. (40 minutes)

3: Cardio Power & Resistance

Build lean muscle and upper-body definition with strength-training and power moves. (40 minutes)

4: Cardio Recovery & Max Recovery

Shaun goes easier on you once a week so you’re ready for the next round. (80 minutes)

5: Pure Cardio & Abs

Skip the intervals—this nonstop cardio workout is all extreme. (40 minutes)

6: Cardio Abs

Do explosive intervals of cardio and core moves for rock-hard abs. (20 minutes)

7: Core Cardio & Balance

Take a break after month 1 and gear up for month 2 with this workout. (40 minutes)

8: Max Interval Circuit

The interval circuit that’s more intense than anything you’ve ever done before. (60 minutes)

9: Max Interval Plyo

Push your legs ’til they beg for mercy with power and plyo, all at your MAX. (55 minutes)

10: Max Cardio Conditioning & Abs

Get pushed to your limit with this extreme cardio workout. (50 minutes)

They are both designed differently.  One is 60 days and the other 90 days.  P90x focuses more on muscle exercises with certain reps/set count and muscle confusion.  Insanity focuses more on cardio, conditioning, abs and doing all reps to failure (till you can not do anymore).  If you’re a person who can not workout at home, and ultimately will just NEVER end up doing it, you need a personal trainer.  If by any chance you’re a person who enjoys cardio, fast pace workouts, and have the self motivation to workout at home, Insanity Workout is for you.  However, if you do not like fast pace workouts or cardio, and would rather experience what muscles you are using for which workout at the comforts of your home. Maybe Yoga or Kenpo sounds fun?  Then P90x is for you.
