“YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE, ONE MUST KEEP IT CLEAN AT ALL TIMES AND PURE…AWAY FROM HARM AND NEGATIVITY!” - Jon Jung
Jungle Fitness Irvine Personal Trainer Blog: Jon Jung

Yesterday I took my little brother, Michael aka Jungle Junior grocery shopping for vegetables and fruit.  We spent about an hour going about all sorts of vegetables and fruits.  It was like a hands on education seminar on all the nutrition facts and benefits of each vegetable and fruit.  Overall it was awesome!  We bought all sorts of vegetables from asparagus to broccoli to lettuce to tomatoes to much more and fruits from oranges, apples, bananas, and much more.

What you put in your body is what your body in the end will look like.  Don’t get me wrong we Jungle Brothers love to eat all sorts of junk food from pizza to cheeseburgers to french fries but of course all this in moderation!  We at Jungle Fitness believe in balance and moderation.  We understand that everyone is human and human’s have natural cravings that are formed from your mind to your body and then back to your mind.  So what we like to call it is the 1 to 5 ratio.

Jungle Fitness Irvine Personal Trainer Blog: 1 to 5 ratio rule by Jon Jung

What is the 1 to 5 RATIO?

1 to 5 RATIO essentially is the idea that you deserve and earn 1 cheat meal per 5 times that you exercise at least 90 minutes (so if you are one of our Jungle Fitness clients reading this, a 90 minute sessions would be equivalent to 30  minutes of cardio and then your normal typical 60 minute personal training session).  Now remember I said 1 cheat meal, not 1 CHEAT DAY FULL OF CHEAT MEALS! NO NO NO NO! THAT’S NOT IT…. lol

Here are a few health, nutrition, and workout tips that I find very helpful that’s helped me stay fit and healthy while still being able to enjoy life to its fullest:

Jungle Fitness Irvine Personal Trainer Blog: Jon Jung Top 10 Nutrition, Exercise, Healh Tips

1. Make sure you exercise a total amount of at least 30 minutes a day (remember that doesn’t include the time you rest and are not moving).

2. Keep the refrigerator at 40 degrees F (4 degrees C) or below to make sure your foods stay fresh and last longer.

3. Most fruits and vegetables are naturally low in fat and calories; substituting them for high-calorie foods can be a calorie-reducing strategy to help with weight loss and fat loss as well as obtaining a healthier body and healthier temple! :)

4. If you have children pack a bottle of water or a juice box (100% juice no added sugar) in your children’s lunches versus soda or other sugar-sweetened beverages.

5. Diets that are high in saturated fats can raise “bad” cholesterol (LDL) levels in blood.

6. Avoid praising a clean plate.  You should stop eating when you are full rather than when the plate is empty and cleaned off.  Remember to eat till you are satisfied and full not stuff! Shoot for 75% full to make sure you don’t overeat!

7. Choose fruit options, such as sliced apples, mixed fruit cup, or 100% fruit juice that are available in some fast food restaurants rather than french fries and soda!

8. Cooked eggs, including hard-boiled eggs, and egg-containing foods should not sit out for more than 2 hours.

9. Heat food until it is hot and steaming (at least to 165 degrees F)

10.Avoid fad diets, people who use fad diets often end up gaining back any weight that they lost and sometimes more because it might change your metabolism in a negative way.
